A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of joining a content day for a new studio located in Pioneer Square. A content day is essentially a set day and time set up by a photographer or group of photographers with a pair of styled models. They can sometimes include props, and various outfit changes. Styled photoshoots are so valuable for photographers and not just for the creativity aspect. It's a collaborative opportunity for us to be able to flex our photography muscles, try new things, meet other photographers, and network with new vendors and other photographers. This particular photo studio is a new favorite for many reasons. The size is enormous and the light is very generous with tall windows surrounding both sides of the studio.
I know that many of my Seattle clients greatly prefer to shoot outdoors. I mean, we do live in one of the prettiest states in the country. It's hard to beat Seattle's beautiful surroundings and capturing those Pacific Northwest vibes is also my favorite too. However, please don't rule out scheduling an indoor photoshoot! The flexibility alone is worth it. The natural lighting is always perfect, we don't ever have to worry about the weather (rain or shine), and there are a ton of options for outfit changes. Bring a backup outfit to change into in a private setting, and we can create a whole new story!
The other perk of shooting inside a photo studio is the intimacy it offers. This is a privately owned photo studio, so we don't ever have to worry about bystanders or people passing us by in the background. It's one of the reasons why it's the preferred setting for boudoir photographers. A studio setting is perfect for a family with a newborn, an intimate maternity photoshoot, couples photo session, and even a surprise proposal or engagement. Talk about the perfect spot to set up a romantic scene! The options are limitless and I know some beautiful floral vendors that can create a dreamy backdrop or flower bouquet.
Scheduling a studio photoshoot also gives us more options to utilize the included props. Every studio is different, but this one in particular offers a couch, a bed, plus various stools and chairs as options for posing and storytelling. Want to order a floral backdrop? We can make that happen as well. One of the best perks of joining a content photoshoot is meeting the creative vendors that get hired to style the chosen models. Makeup, hair, and floral vendors are usually the most common businesses that are brought together to help create a magical shoot for photographers.
If you're interested in booking a studio session with me, simply request "studio" when submitting your inquiry. It's one of the best ways to sneak in some photos before Seattle photographers start getting booked during our busy season. Get your family holiday photos early and you'll have less stress at the end of the year. Have your heart set on an outdoor setting? I feel that! I recently have begun to open up some dates for this Summer. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for those golden rays of sun. Hope to see you in 2022!
